The story
In order to enable our expansion into the US, we need to adjust our US business model.
That’s because if we replicated our existing UK business model, under US law we would require a banking license to operate in the US. That’s expensive and complicated, so we don’t want to do this.
We’ve also had some feedback from some strategic US accounts who would prefer a SaaS-type set-up (they pay us for a service and we do the rest) vs our current agent-relationship (we connect them with participants). This means, they would want to simply pay us one lump sum (which includes our fee, participant payments and tax) and then don’t have to deal with the (financial) admin of running a study, e.g. managing funds or paying participants.
As part of this new business model, we will enable the new (operational) set up and configure new payment flows and adjust some user journeys in the product to reflect this new set-up
